March 2nd, 2010VideoThe closer I come to the March Video Scrapbook, the more I’m certain it will be the final one. (In this series, at least.) I’ve been making these things every month for 11 months now, and I’m looking forward to a day when I don’t feel the need to whip out the camera at every pretty face or streetscape. Not to say those in my circle of influence will be safe from the prying video eye. But hopefully they’ll be less frequently invaded.
In this video: hearts, gluten-free cream puffs, riverwalking, warming shacks, lady musicians, buses, crafts, a creperie, snow, trains, sushi, live radio, polka dot balloons, moms and a drag queen.
One more to go!

February 1st, 2010VideoHere it is, my monthly video scrapbook, vol. 10. Just two more left! (That is, if I actually quit making them once I’ve done a full April-to-March year like I planned.)
You’ll see a few road trips, lots of quilts, cute kids and wintertime outdoor recreation.

January 1st, 2010VideoWhy go to bed in the wee hours of New Year’s Day when you can upload the final video scrapbook of the year 2009? (Fear not! There are still three more to go in the run of this project, January through March.)
A few notes:
- I sadly lost some video when one of my cameras crapped out on me at one point. So the glory of Melissa’s coq au vin, among other things, is not featured here.
-The music is by the Kelele Brothers, from their album Has Beens & Wives, which you can purchase here for the low, low price of $8.88 CAD.
-There were meant to be two adorable infants featured in this flick, but somehow I also lost the video of young Rowan, leaving just baby Macy to represent the 6-months-and-under set.
-And for the record, it is my brother’s hand, not mine, doing the head-squishing/head-patting of our parents at the 1:55 mark.

December 1st, 2009VideoIt’s December first; here’s November’s Video Scrapbook. If you’re unfamiliar, each month I take a bunch of video on my point-and-shoot digital camera and then edit it together and set it to music. In these videos you see little snapshots of my life and the people and places in it. I’m planning to complete and entire year’s worth of these — April 2009-March 2010. I didn’t start out with that kind of grand plan — in fact, the first video was meant to be a one-off — but then it just seemed natural to continue. That means this project is 3/4 done!
In this edition, you’ll see that there is a lot more darkness/less sunlight, but surprisingly little snow. Don’t worry. It’s coming.
Links to previous scrapbooks can be found below. Enjoy! And happy December.

November 17th, 2009Video, You've Got to See ThisTwilight parodies are utterly essential these days. This one, from College Humour, is excellent — not just because it stars Parks and Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza, but because her character’s fascination with Three Wolf Moon guy is about as understandable and compelling as Bella’s fascination for Edward. (IMO. I say this as a person who was unable to get through even the series’ first volume, I was so bored by it. I have, however, read extensive, in-depth plot and character summaries, and so feel I am qualified to make judgment on the phenomenon and, of course, hate it.)
Anyway.
As the meme matures, so we mature with it.

November 4th, 2009VideoIt’s short but hopefully sweet.
Music is from Do Make Say Think’s wonderful new album, Other Truths. The track is an edit of the album’s lead-off track, “Do.”
